Frustrated with this process

Recommended Posts

I had gastric bypass revision on June 6th. I lost 16 pounds after surgery and have not lost a pound since. I'm very frustrated. Is this normal? Are my expectations out of whack?

Really, you are frustrated already? LOL... Your body has lost 16lbs already!

That is really great!

You have to be patient with this process. You did not gain it overnight and you won't lose it that way either. There will be many many stalls over the period you lose.

As you get closer to your goal it will really slow down so you have to be patient and stay off the scale if it is going to freak you out so quickly.

Your body has to take breaks in between losing, just stick to the plan and your weight will come off. The first stall happens around week 3.

You are right on track. Best of luck!

I had a huge stall only one week after surgery - sometimes your body just needs to catch up. As long as you are following your doctor and NUT plan, everything will be just fine - don't stress.

I am eight months out - and have actually spent more time stalled than losing - I would lose about 10 pounds - then nothing for weeks - then another 10 pounds. if you note my stats below, though - I am getting close to goal. Relax and try not to get discouraged - It will happen.

A lot of times when I wasn't losing pounds I was shedding inches - Maybe that helps if you look at it that way.

Good luck with your weight loss!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
