Help!! Just starting my journey..

Recommended Posts

Hi all I just wanted to say hi to all of you and talk to people who are dealing with the same emotions on wls and relationship issues as me. I went for my first consulation on Thursday and have to do 3 months of dieting. see the nutritionist and pshyc evaluation. I am so looking forward to this procedure. I can not beleive the transformation my body has taken since I had my two beautiful children. Has any one used Dr. Pucci in New York for your surgery any and all feed back would be wonderful. I am just feeling nervous and very anxious about the waiting and approval and the actual surgery. I am excited but scared all at the same time. Thanks for listening. Talk to you soon.

Hello Maria,

I've tried just about every diet plan out there, up to and including Atkins (lost 100LBS) but all failed, but after a lot of research, I think that this will be the ultimate way to go for me.

YO-YO dieting is hard on the body, and my MD suggested I consider this.

When he used the term 'MORBIDLY OBESE it scared the h-- out of me.

As I see it, the thing here is being able to COMMIT to this.

I am an emotional/stress/recreational eater. This is something you have to conquer before the surgery.

An advance pre-op visit to a good shrink is a great idea.

Its OK to feel nervous because you're embarking upon a new path in life.

Try to remember that you'll want to be around to see your GRANDCHILDREN.

I don't know about you, but I find myself going to a lot of funerals lately.

I have decided that I want to live healthier and longer.

I pray that you find success and happiness on your journey.

I'm not sure I can agree with this statement. While I agree it certainly needs to be dealt with I don't know that I agree it has to be done before surgery. I mean, if we COULD do it before surgery we wouldn't need bands.

I think recognizing it is an issue before surgery is needed, but not resolving it. If that was the case I doubt I would have ever been banded! :)

thank you all for your input. I am taking the next step, I have my pshyc evaluation next Wednesday. What types of questions do they ask and why do we need to go and have this done. Also, when it comes to the nutritionist what is the purpose of that as well. My nerves have calmed down a bit after being on this forum so much. But I guess with any surgery nerves play a big part. I have never had any surgery before so I am sure that is where my nerves are coming from. Thank you all for the support and feedback.

I am just starting out on this journery too. First real appointment after info session next week. From what I understand loosing weight with band is very different from "traditional" weight loss so a dietician specializing in WLS is very important. I can't wait to get banded and start on my new life!!! In my drs. practice he is the last one to see so I have to do all the evaluations first and then see him. I just hope it doesn't take too long as it took me 1 year to fully decide to move forward and now that I have, I don't want to wait. Good luck to you, Maria.

Maria, I felt the same way. I cried right before my surgery because I didn't know how I reached that point. That being said I couldn't be more happy with my weight loss.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
