Hi everyone I had my Vsg on 6/17/16. I can honestly say only issue I had was when I got home was acid reflux. Has anyone else had to deal with this? also how much Protein are you taking in? The day I got out of surgery and went from recovery to my room,I asked to go walk and they nurse was shocked but I actually felt fine just wanted to mk sure any gas I had I wanted to get out. So I walked a little and then was bk in my room because they didn't want me to overdo it..but any chance I got I walked and it really helped! I am so happy I made this decision and looking forward to the new journey and also having support from a wonderful group like this!

Did your doctor prescribe a PPI? Mine prescribed 40mg Omeprozole. He wants me to take if for 3 months post op. I haven't had any issues. If you're didn't prescribe something you may want to call them and see if they will call something in for you. Reflux will have a negative impact on your recovery

FIGal78 yes I'm in GA. I'm feeling ok. Bored with the first week post op diet. I get light headed when I stand or walk too long. Checked my BP and it was a little low. I also know I need more Protein. My stomach rumbles all the time and I miss drinking lots of ice cold Water This sipping sucks, but it's a must.

How's things with you?

RealityKrys,

Yes this 1st week im trying to improvise. I hv made a batch of sugar free chocolate pudding, strawberry Jello and even strawberry/banana smoothie. I am trying to get enough Protein as well. So i hv the shakes and i add it to my smoothies. I love Water too and this whole sipping is crazy but a must...i cant wait to get cleared to workout. How are your incissions...mine are fine my abdomen just a little sore but the pain meds take that away. I am going to weigh myself Friday as that will be a week that I hv had my surgery. This will be an exciting journey...let's keep in touch..I'm just a hop & skip away in Florida.

Best of luck!

My incisions are good. Tender, but not bothersome.

I've been instructed to do Clear liquids for the first two weeks. I need to find out from my surgeon of it will be ok to smoothies now. I so bored with the lack of variety.

I'll be in FL in July. Taking my granddaughters to Disney.

Yes, let's keep in touch and encourage one another. I'm so excited and looking forward to see what the next two weeks will be like.

@@tholbert08 I would try sipping out of a spoon or shot glass, at least a month before your surgery so you'd be used to it. Best wishes!

@FIGal78 no problem! I don't want to become obsessed with the scale, so I can't wait until I get to feeling more like myself. I still get lightheaded if I stand or walk too long. Going up a flight of stairs in my house still makes me tired. BP not low. Just pacing myself until my post op appt. next Thursday.

Oh I changed my name too lol

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
