Mommyto5girls

Hey! First of all I'm so glad to hear how good your experience was. My husband and I are both interested in getting sleeves. We were preparing to self pay in the US until we got a little support with a family member about researching Mexico. I'm really excited about the idea of Not being $40,000. In debt but still super nervous of leaving the country. I feel like I am a little too trusting of people and I don't want to make that mistake with this decision. How did you come about your decision? Also I have a 10 month old daughter. I've read about a 10lb weight restriction for the first month. Is this true? I don't think I can go a month without picking my daughter up.

Thank you in advance! I'd love any advice you have!

@@JayJuls I totally understand nervousness surrounding having surgery in Mexico. I came to the conclusion when a friend of mine had surgery with the same Doctor and had a great experience. It helped me to know that "if _______ did it and raves about it then it must be ok!" I trusted her and I'm glad I did! My husband came with me as an added source of reason and he felt so safe that he went out on walks to explore when I didn't need him.(not everyone is as adventurous as he is though)

I think you need to go with a doctor with a really great reputation and a great care coordinator. The care coordinator really does the logistics work when your there and you need to know that your care coordinator is almost as good as your doc!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
