I am going back to work tomorrow. My surgery was 6/13. I am dreading lunchtime. No one knows that I have had the surgery. I've already planned to eat at my desk just like I did pre-op. I'm just wondering what should I take eat. Does anyone have suggestionset on dealing with cravings for solid food?

If you're going onto soft foods you could bring some cottage cheese or some greek yogurt

Consider going to tour car and reading while u eat then you can avoid questions. Having sad that, I ate in the lunch room and when asked how I was eating so little, I told them I had surgery. I got some of the best supporters from that conversation. I understand not everyone wants to tell people. I ate a lot if refried Beans with cheese melted on top, hummus, pimiento cheese, yogurt with Protein powder added, sugar free pudding snack with Protein Powder added, etc. That was during my mushy stage. Good luck! Remember to have Water on your desk and sip sip sip.

What everyone else said... Hehe

But also don't be afraid about people not knowing about your surgery. I was so nervous to tell anyone as it's such a personal choice. But I think in the end be proud of who you are. You made this choice for your life and your happiness! I personally chose to just get it off my chest and tell everyone as I struggle with the idea of hiding things and couldn't be bothered with the work that takes! Haha and I feel a lot better for it, you will probably find people are more supportive than you realised. And anyone who isn't - is not worth your time and mind space! Good luck getting back into work and the rest of your journey xox

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
