What to expect 2 months post op

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am scheduled for 7/12 and will be going on a cruise with my family and friends 2 months post op, If all goes as planned i should be on solid food by this point. I would like to know what to expect as far as will weight loss have occurred by then to a point i may need smaller clothes to pack? What to eat? (i am planning on taking some Protein powder packs along just in case) Energy level?

I am not required a 2 week liquid diet before surgery , though i plan on doing very low carb dinners and shakes for Breakfast and lunch at least the week before surgery. I expect my weight at surgery to be somewhere around my current which is 270

There's really no way to predict your weight loss.....I'm a little over 4 weeks and I've lost 18 since surgery.....30 since my pre-op diet.....and about 43 total from the start.

Everyone is different and will lose at different rates. As far as energy and such.....as long as you don't have any complications you should be fine. I would be fine to go on one now at just 4 weeks.,....but again it will all depend on you and your specific healing process.

There should be lots of options for you to eat on plan! However - pack your willpower because there's even more goodies that aren't on plan! ????. You will probably have to wait right before the cruise to buy clothes because it'll be difficult to predict size. You will want to be careful to stay hydrated! The great thing about cruises is you can do whatever you feel like - so if you need to rest - pull up a lounge chair and take a nap (just be sure to drink plenty of water!). Enjoy!

Let me know how it went! I was sleeved last week, recovering very well, and I go on a cruise 8 weeks after my surgery date.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
