Ways to celebrate weight loss?

Recommended Posts

Hey out there! I had my surgery on May 27th and at my 2 week appointment last week I had lost 10 pounds. I got on my scale today and I lost 20 pounds since last week! This brings my total weight loss on this journey to 90 pounds! I want to start celebrating milestones. Have any of you done this or do you have any ideas?

Thanks!

90 pounds?! That's fantastic! You'll definitely need to Celebrate the 100 pound loss you're so close to. What about doing something that you couldn't have done before? For me, I think I'd like to try a zip line, or take a river rafting trip, or jump on a trampoline, or go horse back riding. Maybe even sky diving. Eek!

Thanks! Yeah I was thinking of doing something I couldn't do before but I'm still pretty heavy. I started at 545 so right now I'm at 455! I still can't do much but I'd like to do something! I'd also love to do something like ziplining, trampoline, skydiving, zorbing, parasailing, hang gliding but I still have a ways to go!

Zorbing? That's one I have to google right now. Maybe it needs to be added to my list too. You're off to such a great start that I'm sure you'll continue to do great! Keep all those adventurous activities in mind for future rewards.

I think zorbing looks awesome! My sister did it in New Zealand. I will definitely start doing my more adventurous activities as soon as I am able!

I agree! I have seen that before, but never knew what it was called. I'll add that to my list too. If bucket lists are all the things you want to do before you kick the bucket, I wonder what I should call my list of things I want to do after significant weight loss.

I did little things to reward myself along the way, a new wardrobe (this was more out necessity than anything), Tummy Tuck (when I reached and maintained my goal for 18 months), boudior pictures (at 2 years post op), and most recently I rewarded myself with the honeymoon my hubby and I never had! I put it off for 18 years because I didn't want to go when I was nearly 300 pounds. So to Celebrate 3 years post op at or below goal, we went to Mexico (lots of fun pics in my blog linked in my siggy). So, my rewards ranged from clothes to a trip, but I would just think about the things you've always wanted to do but didn't because of your weight and start there.

I make appointments for massages when I hit periodic milestones.

I love glass, so I have bought myself some nice art glass pieces at some of my big milestones.

Massages and mani/pedis are my standard rewards.

My wife and I are planning a vacation for when we've both hit our goal weight.

I just realized that I'm 50lbs down today. I've never lost so much weight.

I am going to take horseback riding lessons when I hit my first goal of 60 pounds. Congratulations on your 90lbs, that's something to be very proud of!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
