Finally taking my 2004 band out tomorrow!

Recommended Posts

I am so happy I am getting this thing out of me! I was showed pictures of people who's band has stretched their esophagus out so bad over the band. I'm glad I am not one of those awful cases, but my esophagus has stretched a bit. The Doc says I am the oldest lap band he has seen lol. I cannot wait to be able to eat something without slathering it with sauce. I will not miss the "stuck" feeling and the having to run to the bathroom while at a meal with family or friends. :)

I haven't heard one good thing about the band. Is it really that bad? If it causes so many problems, why do the doctors still do it.

Good things come to good people.

My surgeon doesn't do them. I can't believe how many still do.

I had my first band 5 years ago and it snapped after 6 weeks. I then had it replaced 3 weeks later and now this one is leaking. I have had nothing but problems with it and finally am having it removed on the 2nd of July and having a gastric sleeve on the same day. Good luck for tomorrow x

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
