Options...don't know what to do...

Recommended Posts

Hi ya'll! I'm new here. I'm very set on this surgery and I'm trying to consider my options. I don't want to jump through insurance hoops...wanted to go to Mexico but the hubby said no. Now I'm looking at Las Vegas. I'm scared if just don't do it I'll change my mind and I need this bad? Thoughts? Suggestions? Ask I just lusting after this? Help!!!

I would reconsider and go through insurance (if you qualify). Take the time to prepare for life after WLS - it'll benefit you in the long run. The other issue to consider is the importance of having a local Bariatric Team to help you post-op. If you have any issues or concerns - you'll have someone available. It's also important to get your mind in the place that you can be more successful - the surgery is on your stomach - not your brain (and your brain plays a major role in eating habits and emotions after surgery!).

Just an update...I meet with my Dr. Yesterday and he's all on board with my decision and does recommend submitting things to insurance. I've been praying and decided is speak to my Dr. And follow his professional opinion. I appreciate all your connects and suggestions. I agree that having a team close to home is essential. Through my research in seeing this is a life long change so I'd like to have my Dr. In on this...pre and post op. I'll keep you posted!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
