10 DAYS POST OP AND I CHEATED

Recommended Posts

Don't beat yourself up about its something to get use to and quite challenging. Remain focused on the "BIG" prize, take it one day at a time, and aim to do better each day

I'm new to this. I think every surgeon should request every candidate to watch a video of someone having the surgery to get a better understanding of how serious this is. It baffles me how some people are so willing to their health at risk for a lil taste of food.

Mine did, thankfully.

It scared me enough to be extremely careful post-op. i stayed on nothing but Protein shakes the first 4 weeks post-op due to fear of my healing stomach.

By then......my feelings about food had changed.

I'd learned that the term "comfort food" was such a misnomer. Food doesn't comfort. Air conditioners or blankets provide comfort. Food is simply something that you eat for sustenance and we very much are what eat.

Perhaps this surgery doesn't come with enough post-op pain for folks to take it seriously? I mean, most everyone responds to pain with caution and careful actions, right ? Maybe it'd be better if we hurt more....and longer....post-op. I should have asked my surgeon for the enhanced pain upgrade, lol.

My thoughts on the matter are that far too many people reach their surgery date with minimal instruction and understanding of the state of things......and far too little emotional coaching and strengthening.

I had 75% of my stomach removed because I was using it poorly.

I truly hope I can always find the right ways to use the remaining part responsibly.

The sleeve is certainly a great tool, but it, like all tools, has to be utilized correctly in order to perform the work it was designed for.

Dub I like your name that was father's nickname. I joined this forum two weeks ago. I'm just starting my process. As of this year my insurance company just approved baractic surgery. I've attended the information seminar and my first Dr visit on June 15th and excited. I've seen a couple videos on you tube and let me say it keeps things in perspective

Don't worry your not alone ....I was doing the same thing and I was worried of gaining weight too. I'm glad to hear all this great advice. I'm going to go talk to my nutritionist today and will try to gain some support because I don't want to damage anything....we can do this

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
