Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Recommended Posts

Summer is here! Record heat waves are happening out West, and the rest of us are feeling the warmth, too. School’s out soon. So…what are you doing this summer? Share anything you like, whether your summer plans involve weight loss, weight loss surgery, fun trips, or anything else.

And, do any of your summer travel or staycation plans include anything you couldn’t do before weight loss surgery? Maybe this year you can fit into a single airplane sit, go on the rides at the amusement park, keep up with your family while touring a new place, or enjoy yourself at the pool or beach. How does that make you feel?

I’d love to know what’s in store for you this summer, besides hanging out on BariatricPal, of course. :) Share your plans here!

well this is my first summer being single, and I feel awkward going to things by myself. So I'm going to be spending a lot of time at home in the pool

as usual July will find me back home wandering around on the farm - swimming hopefully in Lake Michigan and anywhere else I can manage, picking cherries on Old Mission Peninsula and hopefully climbing the sand dunes.

perhaps a ride down the river in a tube or canoe.

Everything should be a lot easier now than last year especially.

We are taking a family trip to the Outer Banks in NC late July. Other than that I'm just going to be getting ready to get insurance approval. Hoping to be able to submit for it in late August.

Summertime plans here include:

* Gardening and mowing my ass off! First time in years I've had the time and the stamina to stand up, bend, kneel like this. Maintaining property is hard work. :)

* Yoga -- I recently found a great yoga class that's kicking my butt. So glad to find this teacher/class.

* Weekly hiking and canoeing trips with family and visiting friends.

* Summertime travel plans include road trips and air travel to three US coasts.

I am training for a marathon and a super sprint triathlon throughout the summer. I am also heading from Minnesota to Montana to spend a week building a youth center at a church on the North Cheyenne Reservation. (I am traveling with my parents as part of a mission trip from their church.) I will be running nearly every day I am out there as well. That plus work should keep me busy for the summer.

Over Memorial Day weekend, we took the grandkids on a quick weekend trip to Chicago and Brookfield Zoo. It was so nice being able to walk the entire day without pain in my back, knees and feet. Or numbness and tingling from my sciatica.

I planted flowers in our flower beds for the first time in years since my issues above are largely resolved with my continued weight loss.

My spouse and I are trying to coordinate schedules for a quick 4 day mini vacation to the Rivera Maya in July. We have gone there every year for the last 4 years, so there isn't any change to that. Except a much more comfortable trip on the plane and all around less misery in the heat due to my weight. I just started shopping for new swimsuits and had so many more options at this size!

I'll be taking trips to Austria, the Czech Republic, and Chicago. My husband and I are also taking some 1/2 days on Fridays so that we can take the kids to the local children's museum and play. The rest of my free time will be spent either on the treadmill or walking the neighborhood.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
