Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

Hello everyone! I'm quite new here, so forgive me for being such a noob lol.

Is there an appropriate forum for old-timers? I had my surgery 1-7-2004, and I started at 445 pounds, and today I have maintained 230 for the past 2 years. My lowest weight during the process was 150 which was way too thin. My ideal desire is to maintain 180. I'm 6ft tall and look great at that weight.

I am having some specific issues and was not sure if there was a good place to discuss those?

I hope you are having a terrific Saturday, and thanks very much!

Brick

There are support group forums here organized by year. You can post in the one for the type of surgery you had. Look under forums.

Hi, thank you so much for the reply. Honestly, I have been searching all throughout the forums and I can't find that area. I found ones for specific ages of people, but not for time since surgery. If you know a roundabout way I can find it, that would be wonderful. Thanks so much again.

Sorry. You are right. The monthly gastric bypass support group only goes back to 2011.

If you are having specific problems, just state them. We may not know the answers but we will try and answer.

Well thank you all so much. In a nutshell, here are my issues

Because of my surgery and distal versus proximal, I am left with surgically induced hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia, and with some of the "safest" foods I have the worst reactions, my blood sugar is forced way down, and I have been known to black out. This has been going on for years, and as a result I am forced to eat extremely low carb foods 24 hours a day. One might think that that's good for a person that's undergone this procedure. However, over the last few years it has caused me to regain weight. For the longest duration of my post-surgical. For years I maintain 180 pounds Faithfully. However now here I sit at 230 pounds, and yes I am no longer gaining but I can't lose either. It's very frustrating to say the least. Has anyone else had any experience with this kind of issue?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
