Frustrated ; waiting game

Recommended Posts

I'm on day 8 of waiting for my insurance approval from anthem BCBS it's so frustrating especially when people are like I was approved within a day or a couple of days. Idk what could be taking them so long :(

I know what you mean. It is six days until my surgery date of the 31st but the pre op assessor won't approve me until she speaks to my anaesthetist who is on leave until my actual surgery. I am on the pre op diet which is hard enough but I am way stressed because I don't know if my surgery is going to take place.

I feel like for you everything will be okay. I Think that's weird that she won't approve you until she speaks to them . Especially since they already gave you the okay to start your pre-PO diet

It's because my platelets are elevated. The nurse said not to worry about it six weeks ago. But now the pre op assessor won't approve me until the anaesthetist okays it. Problem is that the anaesthetist is on leave until the morning of my surgery!

I have Anthem as well and will likely submit end of June so am curious as to how long they take. Did you have the six months of supervised visits?

Yes my last weight in was last month and I have a tentative surgery date for July 15th and I'm on week two so hopefully I will hear something this weeks because I would have to start my pre op two week liquid diet next week

I have BS of California and I was approved in 24 hrs BUT my doctor decided to do a "predetermination" of benefits first with the local insurance office and this voluntary process (that I didn't even know existed until yesterday) took 9 days. Day 10 sent the documents to BS of CA, and I was approved today.

I was approved really quick. I have anthem BCBS but it's the doctors office taking so long. A month later I still don't know when I'll get an appointment.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
