Any Seattle/Tacoma Sleevers with surgeries approaching?

Recommended Posts

Will do! I'm actually sitting in waiting area for surgery. I'm a bit annoyed as I have been here for 6 hours. They had me come to the hospital today at 0500 am only to learn that my surgery is not until this afternoon. I had been informed that I was to come early so they could get me on fluids but alas I am in the waiting area. My new advice in scheduling surgery is to ask to be scheduled on a date when you can be first in.

Good luck today, Kadie!

I am scheduled for June 22 - just 33 days after my first doc visit. Good news for me as that I don't need to do a liver diet, because I not-really-purposefully lost 13 pounds in the last 13 days on just regular-food high-Protein meals, so my liver has shrunk enough already. Yay!

Bad news is that she said I will have to reduce my workouts a lot for several weeks after surgery because I won't be able to hydrate enough (can only take small sips) - my signature line here is SO true for me. I will miss guzzling Water.

I asked my surgeon if I could be the first operation that day, but she said any gastric bypasses go first because they need more recovery time.

Hello,

West Seattle here!! I'm a little behind you guys. My presurgical consultation is tomorrow. I've already done my prerequirements (tests, labs, educational class)....except my 5% weight loss. Group Health says it's required before they will schedule the surgery date. (I'm on the exercise bike while I type this)!

Even if I don't get a set date tomorrow it's starting to feel real. I heard they are booking Aug dates right now. I hope I at least get one by September. We'll see!

Good luck to you all!

I'm in Auburn and in the early stages of researching the sleeve. Anyone have doctors in the area they'd recommend? Tomorrow I'm planning on calling Franciscan in Federal Way to schedule an initial appointment. This is so exciting and overwhelming t though!

I'm on the East Hill of Auburn! :) Do you happen to have a primary care physician that you'd recommend?

I'm feeling really good overall. I'm two weeks out and have had no issues with pain at all. I had severe nausea for the two days after surgery but very little pain, which surprised me given that 90% of my stomach was removed. My main issues are now getting my fluids and Protein drinks in, and I still tire easily. I've lost about 15 pounds since surgery.

Hi. I see Dr Fang at UW Physicians Federal Way. I really like her as a doctor but overall it feels that staff there are under enormous demands. I think this is happening everywhere though. Clinic management are pressuring clinicians on numbers and it's frustrating for both clinicians and clients.

Thanks! Yes, I'm having a hard time finding anyone that is even accepting new patients. It seems that places are swamped.

Kadie777, now I'm considering Dr. Srikanth. Would you recommend him based on your experience? How long were you in the hospital?

I do recommend him. He's very thorough and a nice man. His staff have been great too. I was in the hospital one night.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
