I had lap band 9 years ago, revising to bypass on 13th

Are you nervous? I was shaking right before. I'm glad to have finally gotten it done.

It comes and goes...

I was super nervous then I started getting excited...

Then the other day I was at a store, in front of me at check out was this very overweight man, I looked at the items he was buying, ice creams, pizzas etc all the stuff with not much nutrition but bunch of calories and sugar... Then I looked at my cart (I had veggies, broths, meat, sugar free jellos etc) and thought to myself "what is wrong with me that I can't do this on my own, that I have to have my intestines rearranged to help me lose weight"

But I do need help because obviously I can't do this in my own or and the lap band didn't help me to get to where I need to be.

I am nervous about complication, about not losing weight, about being sick if I can't tolerate food etc. but I am going through with it.

I am sure I will be a mess the day before and the day of :)

I'm excited to start dropping pounds. I want to walk by a mirror and not cringe when I see myself. It was a long process to finally have it done I'm glad my waiting game is now over. Hopefully it's mostly smiles from here on out.

It's been 5 days since my sleeve. I can't manage to get my fluids or Protein in. After I drink some protein or broth my stomach aches. Low calorie Gatorade is about all I can tolerate. Everything taste overpowering. I'm tired and run down. I'm afraid it will always be like this. :(

It won't always be like this. The difficulty drinking is caused be swelling and inflamation, which will get better and better. Once you are healed, you will be able to drink Water without discomfort.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
