How much time did everybody have to take off after surgery

Recommended Posts

I was told 2-4 weeks. I had surgery on 4/25 and I went to work for a few hours today, and it felt great to be back!

My job is standing up,constantly walking around and lifting so my surgeon asked me to take 4-6 weeks off. He said if possible to take off the 6 weeks to do so.

I did

I am only 2 1/2 weeks out and starting to miss my job, but I know standing up all day and constantly walking/lifting will get me very tired and not good for my surgery ( gastric by pass)

I was given 3 weeks (actually worked out to be about 3.5) by my surgeon. Physically, I would've been okay to come back after a week or so (I mostly work at a desk), but they explained a good portion of the time they suggest off is because you've just had a massive life change, and it takes time to adjust to that, mentally as well as physically. The huge change in diet is a lot to adjust to at first, so my surgeon stresses at least 3 weeks in order to be in a proper state to go back and do your best. I say I would've been okay going back after a week, but I know that trying to juggle that with 6 meals a day and the 64 oz of Water (sip, sip, sip) on top of the craziness at work would've caused a lot of distress.

I took off a week...and worked from home for three days before I went back to the office. My doctor said it was really up to me. (I had RNY)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
