I just took some before photos...WOW! Reality check! I thought I knew what my body looked like...I mean I see it everyday in the mirror. It is much different holding the pictures in front of me and really "seeing"! How did you feel about your before photos??

I understand completely! Somehow my brain is in denial about how really huge I am. I know I am super morbidly obese but when I look in the full length mirror I don't see it so much. Now when I see the rare photo of me, especially when I am next to an average size person, I see how I truely am and it is horrifying! I'm like, who is that person? That's not really me, is it?! I force myself to look now. I do not want to have any delusions about myself and how bad I have gotten anymore .It's time face reality head on and do sonethjng about it. RNY before this summer is over!

My niece had a baby in March and she took the sweetest picture of me holding the baby. I cringed. I had to ask her not to put it on Instagram because I was appalled at how huge I was! :-(

I've been wanting too, but haven't did it yet. I'm afraid of what I'll see. I always avoid pics.

I finally took a before photo the day of my WLS seminar. Again horrified. But I wanted to have the before photo to compare to later. I bought an old house that I have done a lot of work to myself and I have always regreted not having before pics of how it used to look.

That was an apt comparison! Me and a house LOL!!

I did not want to take before photos at all and you can see it in my face in the pictures. But, I'm so glad I did. I'm only 6 weeks post op but I can already see the difference thanks to those pictures! You'll be so happy you took them once the weight starts coming off. They will remind you of all you have accomplished!

Hi everyone, I am new and this is my first post. So glad to have found this site. I am having gastric bypass on May 2nd, so just a week away. This liquid diet two weeks prior is rough!

I hate having my picture taken and I hate looking at them even more but I decided a few years ago after having grandchildren that I would let everyone take my picture anyway because if something happened to me I wanted to be a part of family memories. But those photos were eye opening. I think I saw myself smaller than I am, although I don't know how since the scale doesn't lie. Now I am ALMOST looking forward to seeing pictures of myself through the next year.

I strongly recommend taking before photos. I'm now 3 months post op and a lot of weight has dropped off. I now take a photo every month to mark my progress , and I find it amazing to watch my body change; and I can't believe I was ever that big.

That is a great idea!

YES! Oh my goodness. I see myself every day but didn't realize how big I really am. Someone took a picture of me two weeks ago at a work conference and I suddenly saw myself how others' see me. I was so embarrassed. I posted that pic on here, as my "before" pic. I can't wait to be able to post my "after" pic!

I couldn't bring myself to take before photos. I'm seven months out and down nearly 90 lbs and I'm okay with not having them. I have other ways of feeling the huge change I've made. The clothes I'm buying are so much smaller it continues to amaze me every time I go shopping. I used to struggle to walk more than a mile at a time and now four miles is nothing. So, personally, I really only care about having after photos. :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
