How bad is the post op pain? Is it possible to get through without the use of narcotics? I hate narcotics and usually only take Motrin. Can you take liquid Motrin? I have birthed 3 kidney stones with only Motrin so I'm not a wimp. And information is greatly appreciated.

No Motrin! liquid Tylenol, you can have. Let me tell you.. I've birthed two babies naturally, no medication, and 2 with an epidural. You're going to want the medication. I don't like narcotics, either.. But it really does help so much. But if you're that much against the pain medication, you can always use liquid Tylenol. I tried that as well, but to no avail.

I needed no pain meds what so ever.

The next person may need extra pain meds for longer than most.

I'm afraid that this is such a personal issue that you will just have to wait and see.

I am sure that whatever your pain level is, there will be pain management for YOU.

Now, my friend--go and find something else to worry about. You will and you know it :)

You got this. Such an exciting journey---get ready... :)

I never took any narcotics I was given a prescription strength acetaminophen and to be honest I only took 3-4. The pain was there but it was manageable and after a week or so it eased up greatly! I think you should be alright with out any narcotics! You already told us your not wimpy so I think it won't be to bad for you! It is the best thing I have ever done for myself and I'm very glad I did, I hope you have the same feelings!

Kidney stones with only Motrin.

You are one tough gal. Much respect.

I had a abdominal hernia repaired when they did my sleeve. That was the only source of pain. I used the liquid pain meds for two days, I think. Still have 3/4 the bottle left.

The sleeve never hurt.

I have to say, I never took any narcotics after coming home from 2 c-sections, and the sleeve was a piece of cake. Didn't need pain meds at all. It was a bit painful, but not unbearably so. Good luck!!

I would fill the narcotic med prescription and discuss non NSAID options with surgeon. Better to have stronger stuff on hand and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Yea, I don't like meds either, but u will need them... I'm only 6 days in and my pain is finally starting to subside.... ask about the Q ball (it's a pain ball they put in and u don't have to do anything )

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
