1 week out from RNY - need a good name for my pouch

Recommended Posts

I'm 1 week out as of today. Had gastric bypass on 4/14. Down 11.5 lbs since day of surgery, 21.5 lbs since 4/4. So thankful to finally be losing!!

I'm 5'7"

Highest weight: 299

Preop weight before LS diet: 270

Surgery day weight 260

Current weight: 248.5

Goal weight: 135-140

Anybody name their pouch? Looking for a good one for mine. Toying with a few names but none are just screaming at me. The ones I'm toying with are Polly Pocket, Penelope Pouch, Penny, or Joey (like the baby kangaroo).

Thank goodness for this post! I thought I was crazy. Day 1, I was already sick of pouch, pouch, pouch. It's been Joey for the rest of the month. It makes it more fun. For instance, Joey does NOT like broccoli!

I love this! 'Joey' is pretty cute!

I'm going to have to think about this... my friend's daughter's name is Joey, so I'd feel weird calling my pouch 'Joey'...

I named my CPAP... Horton. There's no doubt I'll be naming my pouch, I just know it ;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
