Not losing, suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Today I am 3 months post op with lap band, I've lost around 44 pounds and the past month, I am just stuck! I've exercised, had Protein intake up to 100g. Does anyone have an suggestions? I thought maybe I need a fill, I have an appointment at the end of May. I'm getting really discouraged with not losing though. I was going to go back to shakes every day for every meal and see if that helps?

First of all, 44 pounds in 3 months is AMAZING! What an accomplishment. Remember those first couple months after surgery the weight may fly off and then slow down once your body has adjusted to your new amounts of food. Average/ideal weight loss for lap band patients is 1-2 lbs per week.

Have you had any fills already? Were you in the green? Are you meals the suggested size and are you staying full for 3-4 hours between meals? If not, then you may need a fill!

Also, liquid calories are never a good idea, IMO. It will not keep you satisfied for as long as food would. Real food is always better. Are you doing anything for exercise? Any increase in physical activity will help!

Good luck :)

I got a fill two weeks ago. I lost a little more but am stuck again. I don't drink my calories. I weigh everything before I eat it.

Reaching you goal weight is a marathon, not a nonstop sprint. As long as you are not gaining weight but are continuing to eat healthy and exercise, I wouldn't worry so much. You also have the fill appointment to talk to your surgeon. I have read threads about people who try to "reset" their weight loss by going through all 5 stages of the Bariatric diet again but in a span of 7-10 days. Perhaps someone remembers what it's called?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
