Not losing weight after sleeve

Recommended Posts

I am 3wks po (sleeve) and lost 10 lbs the first week after surgery but nothing since then. I've been feeling pretty good and was advanced to soft foods by day 8. I'm consuming 60-90 g Protein and 800-900 calories/day along with 40-60 oz of Water (logging everything on MyFitnessPal). Appointment with Nut is not for a couple more weeks. I'm losing precious time here and wondering if I should revert back to the liquid diet to make some progress before meeting with the Nut. Has anyone else struggled with this? Any advice?

I've seen enough people post similar to think that this is normal -

How often do you eat?

I have Breakfast, a snack, lunch, a snack, dinner. and if I do a second walk another snack before bead. Protein first, then some veg or fruit.

Google "three week stall."

You're right on schedule.

also let me add. the NUT is on your team. they should not judge you - they are there to help you tweak and know what to eat, because we all need to learn how to eat for our new tummy.

Oh goodness. I feel you! Lost 15 lbs to start and then it sloooooooowed! I was completely frustrated but decided my body needed to adjust and I would not watch the scale. Best decision ever. At three weeks post op had my BMI checked at the gym- down 5 points! But the scale really wasn't moving. That said, I've dropped another 6 pounds this week. My nut said everyone is different. May not see a move then a week later wake up 10 lbs less. Keep rocking this!

Thanks all for your feedback. It's very helpful to know this is somewhat normal. I'll keep going as-is until I meet with my Nut for modifications. I sure look forward to this passing soon as it's affecting my sunny disposition.

To answer your question Christinamo7 about frequency of eating, I've put it all in a spreadsheet so I can stay on track with my food and Water. I have the standard 3 meals per day plus Protein for Snacks between meals and Water intake. I feel like I'm constantly putting something in my mouth these days, i.e. food, water, foot etc.

Thanks again ; )

This is so normal, there should be and entire website on the "three week stall." Mine hit at 8 days. So frustrating, but completely normal.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
