I've gained 3 lbs!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 3/22 and reached 21 lbs down three days ago. But now, I have gained three lbs back! I am so discouraged and upset, I just don't know why I haved gained 3 lbs. Maybe I am not getting enouch Protein. Or maybe its because I haven't had a bowel movement in a week. Anyone know what I should do? I am so discouraged. Please someone, tell me what to do. I have heard of the three week stall because at first before I was three weeks out I thought that is what had happened. But now, I get on the scales after two days and I have gained! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First, don't step on the scale every day. Second, get a good stool softener (I use generic colace) and maybe some glycerin suppositories. Next, make sure you get are getting your Protein and as much liquids as possible. The scale is not your friend and will play tricks on you. You might be up 2 pounds one day and down 4 the next. My sleeve was a week after yours and my doctor just told me not to expect to lose any weight at all before I return for my four week appointment. Don't be discouraged! You know that you're doing the right thing and it will show.

I hope youre right and having a bowel movement will make a difference. And, I know maybe I am expecting too much of my surgery. I never was one to eat much during the day but would eat a huge evening meal. So, consequently, I am not concentrating very well on my fluids and Protein. I need to have some kind of reminder to drink, drink, drink I guess. Any tricks you can share with me would be appreciated.

@@trishrnyoung - Stalls are part of the process - expect, them...EMBRACE them...measure yourself, you may be losing inches.

The losing inches is a NSV (NON scale Victory) - those are THE best.

I am allowed some Miralax, if needed.

Keep Water with you all day, in the car, at work, at home (sip, sip, sip).

you "got this" :D

Welcome to the family and the losers bench!

Well I just took some Miralax and hopefully that will help. I don't want to sound greedy about my weight loss, but this was a huge step as it was for all of us. I am grateful for this forum. I will be checking in often if thats ok. I plan to start each day new with realistic expectations, even if, each day.

I had surgery on March 28 lost the first 15 pounds then was stuck during my 2nd week. I wanted to die! lol but as someone else said the scale plays tricks on you so i stopped weighing my self everyday and when i stepped on the scale two days ago I was down about 3 pounds and was like about time! lol

Its a process we have to have a lot of patience with i'm noticing! and the scale is not our friend lol now i go by my clothing and how they fit.

Much luck to you!

You need to poop! Once you do, weight yourself again and you'll be so shocked. Also, make sure that you are getting in your Protein and Water. I had a 3 lb gain at 3 weeks out and it was devastating. It was also time for my period, so I was bloated from that. You'll get over this hump sooner than you know.

It could be Water weight. Try a laxative. I had to use laxatives for a few months post surgery. If you don't take laxatives and wait for nature to do it's course then I can tell you it will be extremely painful wen you do eventually go. Before I began taking laxatives I went 2 1/2 weeks without a BM and then had one and it felt like my entire digestive system cramped up something fierce. It was on the pot and vomiting at the same time. Very painful.

You don't have to be on laxatives for ever. After a few months of taking them my BMs corrected themselves and became normal.

Miralax needs a lot of Water to work and it does not work immediately.

I have an app on my phone that reminds me with a little noise or vibration every fifteen minutes to drink. It also helps you track Fluid. It's called Water drink reminder. There are probably dozens of similar ones.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
