After a fill, do you ever feel........

Recommended Posts

After a fill, do you ever feel like your stomach is sore? Have you ever felt any soreness around your actual stomach where the band has tightened? If so, do the soreness go away after the swelling has gone down or do you unfill? This is my third fill with a total of 6cc in a 10cc band. Would love all input-Thanks bunches.

I get jabbed 6-10 times lately because they have problems getting to the port.. the worst pain for me is them pushing down with their hand on the port.. and then 5 minutes after the needles, I get a bruised feeling like someone has punched me. I haven't felt any pain around the actual band part. When they fill me, I can feel a sensation around where I'm guessing the band is.. not painful, just like a gurgling.

I hear some people have to go on liquid diets for a day or so after a fill, I guess to let the band relax? I don't have to do this and have no problems with the band part, so I'm not sure why they do that.

You actually have pain around the band after fills??

After each fill I have soreness around were my band is. I am put on liquids the day of the fill and the next day. Then on to regular foods just to give my stomach time to adjust to the fill. I always have bruising due to my port being tilted and he had trouble finding it sometimes.

I have not had this feeling with any of the my previous fills. I was thinking that maybe since it was a larger fill that might be the reason for the soreness. I had my fill around ten o'clock this morning and have had liquids only along with the fact that I haven't had any hunger pains yet.

I get poked at least that many times too, Lauraj23. Apparently my port is tilted and nurse practitioner has hard time aligning the needle with the hole in port. At first she thought it had totally flipped. I have only had two fills and both have had to be under fluoro. My soreness comes from the many sticks and pressing as well. I'm usually so happy when she says "I got it" that nothing else concerns me.

I have pain when my band is filled too- when he takes the Fluid out, I feel a sense of relief and then when he puts in back in plus some, I get a head rush and a bit of pain. But the worst part in the finding the port and pressing down on it. My doc can get the port in the first try, thank goodness!

After this 2nd time where they decided they had to do fluero again (which means after all the poking I have to meet them at the hospital), they said it looks like my port is tilted now.. forward and to the side a little. They said it's not a big deal, they just keep hitting the rim when they think they're getting it.

Maybe since I haven't had enough of a fill to feel 'tight', is why I don't hurt.. when they withdraw the saline inside to measure, I don't feel anything at all (like you said you feel it empty). When they fill it back up, I only feel the gurgling, not a tightening feeling.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
