Guessing a future clothing size problem

Recommended Posts

So I have to order a scrubs on Monday for nursing school training that will take place June 20th - July 18th. I had surgery 3/28 and started out 24/2xl size. Any ideas to guestimate my clothing size 3 months post op? I lost 12 Pounds the first week, but that doesn't mean I will lose any certain amount in the following weeks. I would rather guess a little big than too small but since I will be wearing it months 3 through 4, I can't guess too big. They don't have to be perfectly fitted, but I can't have them hanging off either, KWIM? I asked if I could order them closer to the date, nope vendor requires this long to get all the stupid logo stuff. I could pay to get scrubs and have embroidery done at scrub shop but it's not cheap and I already paid for them when I had to pay for training.

Ugh, how out of luck am I going to be?

Incase it will help, I am 5'4", currently 244, 24s are a little baggy, 22's a little snug.

Go with the 22s. With scrubs you can roll them if you need to for a few weeks. Weight loss slows down after month 1 and you don't want to be uncomfortable. You can always order more in a few months! Yay new clothes!!

I would go with the 22's as well. I was told when you are the bigger plus sizes (20's) it can take some time to get to a smaller size and this has definitely been true for me. I have lost 53 lbs and I'm still in the same size of clothes. My clothes are looser but they are certainly not falling off of me. Weight loss is slower with the sleeve as well.

I agree with the above. one size down for now.

I am in the same boat! In July we will order work uniforms for the NEXT YEAR. I have no idea what size???? well. I am wearing x-large now, so I will order medium and let the x large fall off me until the medium fits. :-)

Thanks for posting this - if I get into nursing school for September, I will be facing this problem as well!

Order scrub pants with drawstring instead of elastic. You can wear bigger sizes for much longer.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
