New Member and First Thread

This is my first thread to this forum. I live in Texarkana and will have my Lap-Band surgery here next Wednesday.

I feel excited, nervous, scared, tired (and a few other emotions) with the upcoming procedure and lifestyle change. I hope this will give me the help I need.

I am doing this for health and lifestyle reasons. I want to lose weight to be more healthy for myself and my children. I want to feel like playing with them instead of tired all the time. I want to have my youngest son stop calling me "Big Daddy"...

In high school I used to run 1/4 mile relays, 1/2 mile sprints and 1 mile races. Boy; how things change with the years.

I love to travel and hope I can take more trips this year. I just want to get to a healthier size.

I'll post more later... Thank Y'all,

THJ

8/1/07 255lbs.

5'8"

to be banded 8/15/07

goal 175lbs.

Good Luck, I am still waiting for a date, hopefully I will know tomorrow.

Keep us posted and read through all these, they answer more questions than any of the doctors & help staff can.

Hi there! Wish you lots of success with your surgery and life with your Lapband. I was sore for 3-4 days after surgery, but now am feeling just as normal as ever. First fill is 9/13/07. Looking forward to losing more weight.

Hello. I am scheduled on August 27th. And like you, I want to feel better. I have already had knee replacement; still hurts. Had hip replacement and still suffer. Good luck to you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
