Okay WLS friends, I am struggling. I'm 6 weeks post op and I just had two (single serving) size bags of chips and a very small piece of pizza at a work event. Over the course of two hours. But still. I'm not hurting, it tasted great and I regret every single bite. I'm posting this to hold myself accountable. I recognize where I went wrong (not preparing my dinner KNOWING what kind of foods I would be around tonight). I think I just need a little encouragement. I go for my 6 week post op check up Wednesday morning and will be cleared to workout again. Please tell me I'm not alone in messing up like this? I refuse to go back to my old ways.

Don't beat yourself up...pick yourself up....dust yourself off and move on! Voice your concerns at your appointment on Wednesday....They are there to help you through this [emoji3]. Carbs are evil! I know what you mean there....I've been having mashed potatoes more then I probably should because they go down so well....I'm just over 6 weeks post op as well....We will make this work! Good luck at your appointment!

If you want to maximize the weight that you lose during the weight loss phase, then stay with the program. The weight loss phase is relatively short and then you will slide into the maintenance phase.

The most important requirements after surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. Exercise is also important. Weight loss is achieved by meal volume control.

Yes, the weight loss period is shorter than you will prefer so be extra diligent now, while you can, to maximize weight loss!!! If you have to have pizza, just eat the toppings, especially if they have some with chicken. You'd be surprised at how much you realize the crust isn't really that flavorful.

But, make sure you log all that you did eat into your food journal to be held accountable. And write a little note about how you felt--the regret, etc.

You can do this! Get back on that horse!

I ate a few handfuls of peanut M&mms , solution, I threw the rest out. I'm pretty weak when it comes to temptation so I've been avoiding it, plan your meals everyday, Track what you are eating (I use myfitnesspal) and always keep healthy Snacks with you for when you have to attend unhealthy work related events. Carbs do go down easy but skinny tastes a whole lot better [emoji106][emoji123]

Carbs seem like more of a struggle than ever before. They go down a LOT easier than any meat. UGH I am so upset with myself!

If you get more Protein then you won't be wanting to eat carbs as much. Unfortunately, you have had chips and pizza and know you can tollerate them, making it more difficult to not want them. But, you didn't have this surgery to not benefit from it! Soups and chili, make some low carb revolution rolls for bread for a sandwich with lunchmeat/cheese or tuna with a little dill pickle on the side. I also love a BLTC on these rolls. Make cauliflower Pizza Crust and put chicken or Turkey sausage or Pep. on it with cheese. They are pretty good and very low carb. I use the Walmart pizza sauce. It has only 3 carbs for a 1/4 cup and I only use like a tbsp. of the sauce. Take the time to make healthy food so you can enjoy it! You sound like you know what you did wrong. Now all you gotta do is stay focused and not do it again. :) We are going to get skinny and healthy! Yay us!

Well it is a tough thing to say but if you have had these foods at 6 weeks it will only get harder for you as time goes on. As another has said, now that you know that you can eat those foods and feel okay it could put you into a spiral and eat the wrong foods again. Don't lose sight of why you had this surgery; certainly not to keep eating pizza and chips!! Get a grip and support from your NUT or a group of others like minded, good luck.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
