I had my two week check up on Tuesday and of course at that point everything was fine. However, the next morning all the way till today I wake up extremely nauseous. I'm afraid to take my Vitamins because they don't help. Even when I try to eat or drink something not much is helping.

Is this normal? Any advice? I'm trying my best not to vomit, but I almost want to for relief!

are you taking a PPI?

Vitamins have never helped me with nausea so I don't know how to reply to that particular statement. if anything I will feel nauseous if I take them on an empty stomach.

You should call your surgeon if you aren't scheduled for another appointment soon.

You might want to ask your surgeon for an anti-nausea prescription if this lasts more than a couple of days. Zofran is one that is prescribed to lots of people post-op.

I have/had that problem as well. My surgeon said that nausea was part of the process and that it would get better. I am almost 3 weeks out and still have some nausea. I take Zofran when it just gets intolerable. Call you surgeon and ask him for some. ????

My surgeon prescribed Pantaloc right from the get go. It's been working great for me.

Thanks guys. I had actually picked up a virus and was dehydrated. I went in and got a prescription and four bags of Fluid. I had lost 30 pounds in just over three weeks. Which is good, but I didn't do it the best way.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
