Anyone get sleeved in May?

Recommended Posts

I've been on the liver reduction diet for pre-op for 4 1/2 weeks now. 26 lbs down and my sleeve is Monday.

Wow! Good job

I was not instructed by my Doctor to hv any preop diet plan!

My doctor puts all patients on a liver reduction diet to reduce the liver to give more room to do the surgery for a period of 4 weeks. As he states; no week long 'last meals'. He will postpone your surgery if your liver is enlarged the day of surgery.

]I got it May 5th. First few days I regretted it but it gets better. I feel healed completely now but I'm sure the inside prolly needs another week. Had heartburn a few times, started taking omeprezole for heart burn. Still take some of my diabetic meds if sugar is over 150. At my appointment with my primary that they made me for the 10th, I had already dropped 20 lbs!

I got mine May 6! Exciting to find someone close to mine. I've had heartburn a few times but nothing major. I think I ate too much! Awesome job on weight loss!

@@Justaprettyface, If you get a chance, read my "TMI MY FIRST BM", I just posted it. Beside my BM issue, which you can now be aware of and avoid for yourself, I'm doing really great!! I had a 2 day hospital stay and then was released to come home. The first 2 days home were a bit painful but manageable I never even needed my pain meds and I have a very low tolerance of pain. Things you may need to heal you feel better, get an abdominal binder (hospital provided one to me before I left). This helps keep things where they need to be, takes of the pressure when you get up and down. Do what you can to drink all your Water. The sip, sip thing for me was not allowing me to get my water in for the day so I tried a small swallow then a normal swallow which was just fine for me. I drink just like normal now. WALK! At first I didn't want to move but I know in my heart I have healed 10 times fast because I walked. Go outside and walk down your street, get some fresh air. I live 2 blocks from the beach and having the sun on my face, the ocean crashing was just such a treat. You will get through this, use your support team. Call the nurse if you need to, I did the first day home. My tongue was white and I ended up with thrush, cause by Anesthesia-totally normal.

Sorry for the long post! You will do great, this is all worth it. I was down 18 pounds from my last visit pre-op to today! Everyday I'm stronger, happier, and so proud of my decision to make my health a priority. I would rather have this surgery on my terms than open heart surgery or something like that. I'll be praying for you and a speedy recovery!!

I had my surgery on May 4th. I am still on a full liquid diet, which is mainly yogurt, cottage cheese and creamed Soup. I miss sitting with my husband and kids at dinner. I have just been staying away since it is hard. I'm feeling like this was a big mistake. I hope I feel "normal" once I can eat again.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
