On the Fence About My New PCP

Recommended Posts

I got a new PCP and Im not sure how I feel about her. The only reason I switched from my great PCP is because my work is an hour away from him now and making appointments and having to take a half day off work just to see him wasn't working for me. Anyways, this new doc was nice and helpful, and of course lectured me about my weight...... I mentioned I was getting the sleeve and she said that over all its my choice but "I have patients who just couldn't do it and are 300lbs again". "Would you be satisfied eating a small amount how happy would that honestly make you, would you be satisfied eating just a cup of peas".

UMM WELL VERY IF IT MEANS I CAN GET HEALTHY AGAIN! I honestly dont understand, there she is advocating that I eat less, but not "that" much less cause it wouldn't make me happy? I'm not a depressed person so I didn't get that.... Anyways, I mentioned I was getting the surgery in MX and she said she would be willing to do all the post of blood work etc.

I don't know how I feel I just think that entire encounter was odd.

Remember that neither of you really knows the other. You shared with her what your plans are, she shared her experience. She may or may not have put it well, but you were honest with one another. It's a start. She doesn't know you, she doesn't know what you've put behind this, you don't have a years-long relationship.

She's willing to work with you postop. I'd give her a chance.

Not to be a debbie downer, but....too important a relationship especially if Mx WLS. If funds and insurance are not an issue, I'd book an appt with another PCP and choose. Use the Internet fiest to find WLS friendly docs....if the far doc was awesome, he/she may be worth the trip. Ur talking 2 weeks 6 weeks, 3, 6 and 12 months appts. For bloods...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
