Hi all,

My name is Christopher, I live and work in London, UK and was banded on 21st February 2007. My weight on the day of banding (which was my highest ever weight) was 445lbs, now almost 6 months later I have lost 94lbs and so weigh 351lbs. Having my band fitted was the single best thing I have ever done. My life feels like it is just beginning and I feel fitter than I ever have or ever thought I would. I go to the gym between 3 and 5 times a week and love exercise.

I am a Registered Nurse by professional background but currently work in a mixed job, half of my time is spent working on my ward caring for terminally ill patients, the other half managing a project looking at service improvement within my organisation.

I turn 25 in September and really feel that life is great and that I have a lot to look forward to. Don't get me wrong, I have never had great doubts in life being great and never had depressive tendencies but I just enjoy it all so much more now.

I came accross this site through a friend on a similar site in the UK and thought it would be great to get/give support from people further afield than the UK. I have travelled quite extensively to the US in my childhood and early teens but have not been for about 6 years. I am travelling to New York in September of this year and am really looking forward to it, not least because it is the first time I will have flown since my op and I hope the flight will be much more comfortable, between now and flying I aim to lose another 20lb or so.

It would be great to hear from other bandsters in the US (and indeed anywhere else in the world) and I am looking forward to spending more time on this site, both reading and posting.

Chris.

You are doing a great job. I have not been banded yet but hopefully soon. I have found this site to be very helpful and I think you will too.

Good to meet you Chris! I'm glad you've found us and hope you'll share your experiences and learn from the posts here... I'm just starting the process... and probably won't be banded until 2008...

LBT has been an education for me like no other... : )

Keep up the great work!!! You're doing amazing!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
