We've made it to surgery day. Fiancé and I will be heading to the hospital in a mere 4 hrs. The nerves of the procedure itself set in for him last night and I've been an on and off wreck as the last week has gone by.

I know this is the best possible thing for him physically, emotionally, and for our family's health. But, damn, I wish we didn't have to do this. I hate change; it's scary and paralyzing, but there's no turning back now!

We're starting a whole new life as a family and once he takes that step, it's on! Well get through the different stages of recovery and eventually family dinners might feel more normal, smaller for him, but normal, and healthier for all of us.

*phew* I'm glad I got that off my chest.

Wish us luck!!

You guys are going to do great. I love that I had to read it twice to figure out it was him doing the surgery. You are working as a solid pair and that is very encouraging. Keep up the great attitude!

Love that you are taking such a proactive role in preparing for his recovery and are being so supportive through this process. Not all of us have that. Make sure he knows how lucky he is!

Mom always said that if you can't say something nice, say nothing...but I can't.

Maybe I am off base but to me there is something very strange about your post, your words. Almost scary.

I wish him the best of luck

Thank you all for the kind words and support. We just checked into the hospital and because Fiancé is a "surgeons dream" the reps from the hospital want to follow him through the process. Feeling good so far!

UPDATE: Fiance's surgery ran long but went well. We were able to visit with him in recovery for just a little bit, but that's just as well because he was very groggy from anesthesia. Heading back over to see him this afternoon...first taking our three month old to the docs, because ya know when it rains, it pours

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
