  2. Hey that's interesting, hadn't thought of veg really as a source of enough protien, save Beans ans legumes. We like edamame and I was thinking of making an edamame hummus for Fiance's puree stage. What's the name of the cookbook you mentioned? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  3. Glad to hear all went well. Keep us posted! Thanks very much, I will. There's such a good community here! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

  5. UPDATE: Fiance's surgery ran long but went well. We were able to visit with him in recovery for just a little bit, but that's just as well because he was very groggy from anesthesia. Heading back over to see him this afternoon...first taking our three month old to the docs, because ya know when it rains, it pours Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

  7. I feel ya, but know that it'll be ok. The stress and sacrifice that we go through is well worth it! Fiancé is in surgery right now and I can't wait to see him healthier than I'd left him <3 Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  8. He's holding up well; we're delayed 2hrs, so we're just hanging out spend some quality time. He should be in surgery by 230 ish they say. Wonderful staff here! Thanks very much for asking! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

  15. Thank you all for the kind words and support. We just checked into the hospital and because Fiancé is a "surgeons dream" the reps from the hospital want to follow him through the process. Feeling good so far! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App Mom always said that if you can't say something nice, say nothing...but I can't. Maybe I am off base but to me there is something very strange about your post, your words. Almost scary. I wish him the best of luck Mom was right. 17. We've made it to surgery day. Fiancé and I will be heading to the hospital in a mere 4 hrs. The nerves of the procedure itself set in for him last night and I've been an on and off wreck as the last week has gone by. I know this is the best possible thing for him physically, emotionally, and for our family's health. But, damn, I wish we didn't have to do this. I hate change; it's scary and paralyzing, but there's no turning back now! We're starting a whole new life as a family and once he takes that step, it's on! Well get through the different stages of recovery and eventually family dinners might feel more normal, smaller for him, but normal, and healthier for all of us. *phew* I'm glad I got that off my chest. Wish us luck!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

  27. I've got a tuna/avocado puree planned, so I'm hoping that sits ok with him. Love squash; any suggestions on what I could pair it with meat-wise for the soft food stage? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  28. I really thought raw veggies would need to wait longer. Of course it's different for everyone, but 3 months sling so bad. Thanks very much. If the Protein Powder that you add to cauliflower flavorless? I'm having a hard time envisioning it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App V8 sounds genius, I didn't think of that! 29. Hi everyone! My fiancé is getting sleeved in 6 days and I'm doing a bunch of reading and researching on Post-op food. I understand that it can be a really long time before he's able to eat vegetables. But about how long, in your experience? Any tips on veggie prep when that day comes? The Dr's said only cooked veg at first, but what's good? The doctor put him on a lean and green diet as part of his pre-op, and we've stuck pretty closely to it, so closely that at this point I couldn't imagine preparing much else. Thanks, in advance, for the insight. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  30. Thanks! Very stocked up on broths. Haven't gotten any Protein shakes yet, since the nutritionist said to wait until after in case he likes of dislikes a certain flavor post-op. I'm very curious as to how his taste buds might change. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

  32. Ok, good to know that seasonings are more of an experimental thing. I remember the nutritionist telling us to introduce one food at a time. So I'll treat spices the same way. Did you find that eating commercially prepared foods was ok? You'd mentioned the soup bar. I've not bought prepared food in quite some time, since we've both been on the pre-op lean and green diet and everything is watched pretty closely...except a few cheat days snuck in there for special occassions. What pre-made foods would you suggest? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
