Good luck!! I am 3 weeks out and it has been crazy, but worth it.

Follow the post op instructions--and you'll do great. The first week for me was a little rough, but after that I felt 100 times better. Get lots of rest, remember to get up and walk around and try and sip fluids. My only regret: Not doing this 10 years sooner.

Sending you positivity and wellness,

Leilie

BE PATIENT.

Being uncomfortable will pass.

Being tired and worn out will pass.

Yes, you will be able to eat normally again.

No, you won't be able to get all your Protein or fluids in at first. Fluids are more important early out, so work harder on that.

Your body will lose at its own pace. Don't compare yourself to everyone else. And yes, the larger losses at first do slown down to more normal weight loss after a few weeks.

You will have your first stall about 3-6 weeks out. It's normal, and you're not doing anything wrong.

Congrats and enjoy living your new life!

Congrats! I'm 3 weeks our. The first 4 days I couldn't stand trying to get Protein Drinks in and just took it very, very slowly. By day 5 something clicked and things became easier. My biggest piece of advice it to walk often - the most painful part of the surgery is just getting all of the gas out that they fill you with. On a scale of 1 to 10 my pain never hit more than a 3, which was a pleasant surprise

Think good thoughts before you go to sleep.

Don't buy a ton of stuff. 7 months later I still have stuff from before surgery.

Rest, even if you feel awesome, even if you have a ton of energy. Rest.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
