Don't do it! Where is the food? Are you bringing it or buying it? Don't! I pack my lunch every day and that's what I get for the day. I actually do much better at work, because I've planned my food. If the food is in the lunchroom or candy on someone's desk, you either have to avoid those places or develop some will power. You are worth it!! I work in a school and there is candy and crap all over the place. It's just not worth it!

I commit my food plan each day ahead of time to an OA sponsor. I can change it, but I choose to let her know and I also record the change in MyFitnessPal. OA is not for everyone, but it helps me immensely. There used to be an accountability group here on these boards as well. That helps a lot of people. Just planning ahead, committing to it, and saying it out loud to somebody else keeps me from eating off plan. Good luck!

Why are you snacking? Are people bringing food to work? Is there someone who has a tasty treat on their desk that you can't resist? Is it just something to keep your mouth busy? Or are you actually hungry?

If people are bringing food to work, avoid it. If you're the designated "snack girl" who is charged with keeping food on your desk because it's a centralized location, I'd ask a colleague to take over for you because it's causing you problems.

If it's a tasty snack on someone's desk, start e-mailing/phoning that person when you need their help to avoid the temptation.

If you like busy-food (I do!) then try replacing it with Water or hot tea to sip. I chew gum, too, and that helps.

And if the issue is actual hunger, I'd bring a snack to work that's high in Protein (hard boiled egg, nuts, lettuce/turkey/cheese wrap, Greek yogurt, etc.) and plan to eat it when you know you're hungriest (for me that's 3:30-4:00).

Hope that helps!

Thanks everyone for your feed back. It is definitely head hunger. I just need to remind myself every now and again why I have done this and why it has worked to this point.

I don't have a problem with snacking, or eating in general.

I have developed a new lifestyle, where I am not on any particular diet.

Difference now than before surgery, is that where I could not stop eating in excess, I now eat very little over a 24 hr. period.

so when I do eat, I try to choose the healthiest choices I can make.

That includes Snacks out of the vending machine. There is usually something I can eat..if not, then I move on.

For me, the best way to end snacking is to make sure I eat like I'm supposed to eat. Solid Proteins, veggies and maybe some brown rice. If your band is adjusted so you're in the green zone(sweet spot) you shouldn't be hungry for 4 hours.

Of course, not having chips, crackers, junk food and sweets around you is essential. I know when I'm satisfied if I walk by a bowl of chips with or without salsa, I'll munch. Not buying trigger foods and making sure my band is tweaked properly is my way to not snack.< /p>

I never buy junk, but at work, it's around! I was told not to eat rice after I got my band. A fellow teacher said she tried it and felt like she was blowing up like a balloon!

Try everything. We all react differently to bariatric surgery. I've read the same here from several people who say they can't eat rice or eggs or hamburger. But many of us can as long as we follow the eating rules. Doesn't hurt to experiment as long as you stick to healthy foods!

I've read dozens if not hundreds of posts like yours where there's junk food around them at work or they live with relatives who have chips, Cookies, soda pop etc all around the house. And the poor mom who has children, how do you not pick at their leftover chicken nuggets, tater tots and fries?

I remember making food for my kids when they were 4-12. I fed them easy to make foods and then I'd pick at what I fixed for them. No diet ever worked. But bariatric surgery is the easy way out isn't it ;) ;) ;) oh if only it were so :(

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
