Nervous about revision

Recommended Posts

I would strongly recommend removing the band and working towards good health.

The sleeve is a far more invasive surgery and your at a higher risk of complications as a revision.

Don't do it. You will have the same experiences of crazy restriction one day and no restriction the mext.

The sleeve is not your only option!

It's a irreversible procedure that is very serious. Read the complications forum, all those ppl thought it would be best but it ruined their lives.

Moreover regain is possible! So you lose 80 percent of your stomach. But can regain cause you're not addressing the true cause which is a good addiction.

Listen to your family

sorry you canceled..I was sleeved a year ago best thing I've ever done. realize millions of people have been sleeved it is a major surgery yes with risk, there are risk with anything you do .after a few months I can still enjoy many foods I like just not as much. lost 80 pounds..its still work but I'm so much better I can exercise now 351 now I'm 270 ..dont listen to people who have not been sleeved it's unfair they are making assumptions . Ask your doctor more people die from overweight than the sleeve. we all going to die from something least you can do is enjoy life ..the band has been proven not to work ..most doctors won't even do it anymore good luck to you. I can send before and after picks if you want.. and yes you will still have to work towards good health. Sorry people are judging your decision, they must really enjoy being over 300lbs

Converting to sleeve was a great decision for me! If I don't lose another pound, my improved quality of life is worth the 15k I spent on the revision!

Sleeved 12/28/16 weight:253
Currently 220.7 lbs

Just left the hospital from having an endoscopy. I still have a 3cm slip and hiatal hernia however the ulcer from last year has healed. He said the band would eventually have to come out but it has not eroded into my stomach lining so removing it is inevitable but not emergent.

My dad's word of advice is "just push away from the table" and you will loose the weight.

Is your dad 310 pounds or more? If not, then he really has no idea about what you are going through, and I would have a hard time listening to that advice.

My wife is afraid if I have the revision I won't live to see her grow up when the exact opposite is more of the truth.

There are some true words my friend!

Look, family is very important, but when it comes down to it, do they have to carry your weight? Do they have to deal with thrombophlebitis, painful back and knees, and your high blood pressure? No, they don't, so this ultimately needs to be your decision, not theirs.

Do what you feel is right for you and you alone, because you are the only one who will have to live with that decision.

Since another surgery is inevitable, and your family is on board with the removal, just try to get the removal and revision at the same time without telling them about the sleeve. They're happy, you are happy.. and when you drop weight, just say you are, indead pushing yourself away from the table [emoji6]

Sorry to hear that your family didn't support your wishes here. Can your Dr perhaps talk to them to highlight the overwhelming benefits you will receive from the conversion to the sleeve? While I understand that your family (and you) might be concerned about potential and valid risks - hopefully in time they might come around to understanding and supporting your wishes?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
