D-I-S-R-E-S-P-E-C-T Find out what it means to me

I totally missed that one, too. Bummer. I thought the OP was talking about the classy hushxpuppyx in the stretched sleeve thread.

There's an ongoing "Marijuana and Life after Bariatric Surgery" thread that hasn't gotten volatile, so I guess the deleted thread was all about a particular participant rather than the subject.

I was kinda thinking it was stretched sleeve too.

Since Tony Bennett has been named here, I want you to know that in 1964 I was at a friend's Sweet 16. It was in an old-style, glamorous sort of nightclub in Brooklyn, an unusual venue for a party for 30 or so teenagers. The entertainer was -- tada! -- Tony Bennett himself, in the flesh, live, right before our eyes. We all knew him, of course, but our callow selves were not fully appreciative. The show seemed to go on forever and we got quite restless. The adults of the Sweet 16 girl's family, at a nearby table, had a high old time, though.

What a great story.

There is a metaphor for this topic in there somewhere.

I must have missed said post. LOL!

I must've too!

Darnit! It sounds like it was great entertainment.

She called us all fat. I was going to post but it was closed before i could. "Wrong, I WAS fat!". It wasn't her fault she was fat though.

I thought she was a first time poster, but when I looked at her profile, she had threaded before. She did sound completely different. Maybe someone (a kid maybe) got hold of her account? She lost me with all the chat speak and thinly disguised swear words (including the N word). Oh, and we are all fat...except for her. She has reasons.

Everybody's Somebody's Fool by Connie Francis.

I don't know about a metaphor, but it surely says that I'm a babe of advanced years. The French have a much nicer (?) phrase which translates as "a woman of a certain age." Me and Catherine Deneuve. Not bad.

(stands up and clears throat)

It was my fault. She said she wasn't fat because of what she ate, she was fat because of genetics, so I told her to call her surgeon and cancel the surgery because it wasn't going to help her since she wasn't fat from eating, and the surgery restricts eating.

Sometimes, I'm a bad girl.

You are our fearless leader. Now stand in the corner.

Catherine Deneuve is my fantasy alter ego.

To borrow from "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?" and perk it up --

Inner Surfer Girl, you are Catherine Deneuve.

Anyone who was a model for Marianne is an excellent choice for fantasy alter ego.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
