I don't know what to eat

Recommended Posts

:help: My appt. with the dietician is Thursday Aug. 2. I am to start my two week pre-op diet Friday Aug. 3 which will actually only be 12 days since my surgery is Aug. 15. The only thing the nurse would tell me was it would be full liquids. The problem is I live 1 1/2 hours away from the dietician's office and will have to rush to the store Thursday evening when I get home from seeing her. Can anyone get me started on what to have on hand? I realize I am panicing, but just can't help it,

Thanks,

JP

My doc provided pre-op diet - but full liquids usually means - broth, creamed Soups (healthy request) proten shakes, Jello, pudding, anything that passes thru a straw.

Why don't you call them and get a heads up on what you need - explain the situation...

If you're trying to lose weight, shrink your liver, etc., Soups won't do it. Protein Shakes mixed with Water, fat free yogurt/fresh fruit smoothies are what I did and lost the requisite weight. After surgery, I didn't care what "liquids" meant, I had soups with some feta sprinkled on top. Trader Joes has the best soups.

Hello. I just had my lapband surgery July 24. I started a liquid diet provided to me by my doctor's office and still am on it. My next appointment with my surgeon if Friday, August 3. At this appointment I will meet with my surgeon at 8:30 a.m. and the dietician at 9:00 a.m. at which point will be told what REAL food I can start eating. Doesn't your surgeon provide a high-protein food supplement for you before and after your surgery? I would ask. Wish you the best.

I am 5'6" - Weighed in at 232 lbs. on 7/13/07

As of 7/30/07 I weigh 215 I'm losing the weight! :)Thanks everyone. I meet with the dietician tomorrow. I went to the store and got sugar free Jello, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, no sugar added apple sauce and oatmeal. Surely that will get me started until I can go back to the store on Friday.

Thanks again,

JP

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair. Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end. That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
