Hello,

I'm a 41yr old female who weighs 185lbs & 5'1"

I've been diagnosed with Hashimoto's in 2015 & currently taking Levothyroxine.

HBP - not currently taking any medications as it seems the times I've been to the dr, it's been brushed off.

Had an Echocardiogram done a few weeks ago it showed "diastolic dysfunction with a normal ejection fraction"

I'm still waiting on my rheumatologist, who ordered the test to get in touch with me regarding this.

PCOS

SLE

LBP

SI joint pain

My highest weight was right under 200lbs when I was dx'd with Hashimoto's last year

Is there anyone else who had similar height/weight who were approved for VGS?

If so, how much weight were you able to lose & are you happy with your decision?

Thanks to anyone who take the time to respond :)

Well, I had the VGS and weighed 216 pounds--and I am 4 inches taller than you. I qualified as obese, I am guessing you would have to talk to your surgeon. Good luck.

Thanks for responding!

I did go for the information seminar this week as one of the requirements to begin the process.

From what I understand, my BMI & co-morbidities could get me the surgery, but ultimately, it would be up to the physician at

UNC Chapel Hill & my insurance company.

I forgot to add that I do have sleep Apnea too.

Hi, I am 44 and I had plication done 8 days ago and I am 5'2 and weighted 191 at the time. I am down as of today to 181. I do not regret my decision. Felt I needed the help and a new beginning. Good luck

Your BMI and co-morbidities should qualify you.

Hi,

I don't really have any information about the sleeve or being approved, but I did just have bypass and have Dilated Cardiomyopathy. At least your heart looks good enough to proceed. Has your Cardiologist approved or you haven't asked yet? Fortunately my EF is also at the normal range now, 57% with minimal regurgitation.

Good luck to you.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
