Having a hard time waiting

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

I have an appointment next month with the surgery center, nurse and i am having a hard time waiting. I have done research and read post and I am so excited. Once I start the process they said that it could take up to seven months! I have been over weight all my life and I really want the surgery but I not sure the insurance will cover it. I don't have anything but a BMI of 43, family history of diabetes and heart disease. I do have the starting of high blood pressure and depression but maybe they will find that that is enough.

Sorry I just needed to get some support because the wait is killing me! Do any of have any regrets with the surgery? Thanks!

Well I can't answer about the regrets, (not banded yet) but I sure can relate to the waiting! I was hoping to be scheduled by the middle of August but w/summer vacations I was pushed back to 8/3. I felt like it would never get here but last Tuesday when I started the dreaded preop diet I finally felt like i was on my way. Selfpay seems to go a lot faster than insurance. Good luck with everything!

If you can get your surgery to pay, it's probably worth the wait. If you want to self pay, you could probably schedule your surgery for next week!

I don't have any regrets about surgery. It was a great experience, minimal if any pain, piece of cake. I am starting fills now, and experiencing the feeling of slight fullness. Go for it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
