Recommended Posts

See how they all fall for your devious plan, Greg? They can hardly exercise with all the visions of your hairy arse in their heads. (Is that a bad word?)

I will not be distracted from my goal. But I still expect to see the Speedo shot posted right about when the post-holiday blues set in. :D

The pool where I used to work out got rid of the Step Mill torture device. I will probably join a gym that has a couple of them. I worked out on the treadmill for 30, though, trying to undo some potato chip damage from last night. :rolleyes

Ok Let me be serious here for one minute if possible.

Some very simple rules to follow.

1. Have fun.

2. Lose some weight

3. Have more fun.

Ok minute up. Anybody going to have trouble following these rules???? Better not or I'm come to your house and flatten the tires on your Exercise bike.

Ok Ok I have a confession to about the Speedo's. I consider you all my friends so posting a picture like that wouldn't be a good way to treat friends. SO my attempt to be funny has resulted in many women asking for the picture, you made my day. For that I give be hug and kisses. But the actual picture Won't happen folks. LOL sorry... I mean I'm no fool (depending on who you ask) This is the internet and God only knows where a picture like that will end up. LOL

Ok... I have been working on the form to send to all who have indicated on here they want to join in. Its almost done and you will get it in your e-mail by tuesday. It will come as an attachment. Just download it to your documents folder. When you open it fill in the infor requested and then save as Week one and them e-mail be back an attachment of the form. Next week save the file as week and so forth. i f you have trouble. Jusst open the attachment write down the info I am asking for and then just send the info in e-mail to me. As soon as I get all the info entered on my master copy I will send it out to everyone so you can see how weel each other did. I'll also have some fun with charts and graphs for you to enjoy.

Some have offered to send me money for supplies and such on pm's. LOL really if you have extra money I have a Charity you can donate to thru me if you want. Just make Checks payable to: Central America Shelter for Homeless... C.A.S.H. for short and I'll see they get the funds LOL LOL

WOW!!! you are just WAY too organized!!! That's awesome!!! You remind me of some of my teachers from grade school !!! Except they never offered to pose in a speedo!!! Would have wrecked my mind forever!!! Hey....let me rephrase that.....

Anyway....onward and downward!!!

Thanks for all your hard work Greg!!! :D

Greg,

are you emailing or private messaging? I can't receive attachments at the moment cos there is a stinky email virus cruising around. My server picks it up, but I have requested no attachments until it cools down. ( I lost my last computer to one of those darn things.)

Perhaps another way is that you could post the info you want and we could cut and paste into a pm for you...???

Anyway,

can't wait for tomorrow to start.

Bye

Been doing weight training sessions to learn the basics and can recommend a few books which you can get at half.com or a book store outlet for pretty reasonable. They are: Strength Training for Beginners (which shows simple ones you can do at home), Idiot's Guide to Weight Training (not meant to be insulting or anything cuz I have it myself!), and Strength Training for Dummies. I also have Strong Women Stay Thin, and Strong Women Stay Young. And if you're bored with the treadmill, there's Walk Away the Pounds DVD or VHS. Pilates is good for stretching too.

Also, for free.....check out these websites, they're awesome!!!

http://www.altusathletic.com/muscle_default.asp

http://www.gsu.edu/~wwwfit/strength.html

http://www.exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html

http://www.stumptuous.com/weights.html

http://www.strongwomen.com/decision_tree.stm

http://www.exrx.net/exercise.html

Let me know how you do!!! You'll feel GRRRRRRRRRREAT!!!!!!!

Okay, okay... I think I'll be joining this brigade. LOL. Your all INSANE!!! I will not weigh in this Monday but actually will on Wednesday when I go to the doctors for a complete physical. Maybe the winner should be determined by their BMI change? Just a thought. So far my only excercise consists of 1 hour of Water aerobics twice a week (tues. and thurs.) and darned if they aren't even open this thursday. I want to start using weights at home but that is dependent on me actually BUYING a weight set... Anyhow count me IN!!! Teresa

Welcome on board Teresa

Ok Having just a slight problem getting a form put together that I like but thats ok I'll get it done. Don't need it till next week anyway.

What I would like to do is have everyone who is in on this to send me their weight to my e-mail address(above) and I will post that to my data base. Unless I'm wrong on how this is going to work we're not concerned about what your weight is just how much one losses during the seven week challenge. So As of tomorrow everyone is at zero on the charts. Data will start appearing after next Monday

Tereasa I like your idea too about winner so lets do this. AT the end I will post who lost the most weight, who exercised the most (time wise) and those that will send me their Height and weight I will also post who's BMI went down the most.

Also I don't want to miss anyone on here so here are the names of the people who indicted they are in: Becky, Betty, Zoe, Jodie, Pam, Nancy, Lisa(delarla), Marie, Penni, Teresa and me. If I'm missing anyone let me know by posting here or sending me an e-mail. Lisa Green. I wasn't sure if you were joining us on this or not so let me know.

When you e-mail me tell me if there is anything that you don't want posted, eg..e-mail address, Weight or anything else and I will leave you off the charts that would apply.

If I have missed anything let me know If not I'm heading to bed to get a good sleep before this starts. Plus I'm hungry and that will help me forget about it.

Hey before I forget I just got a great motivator for my challenge. I'M GOING TO BE A GRANDPA for the first time.

God Bless everyone and have a good time with this. We're already winner before we start cause we have each other.

I guess I'll join. You twisted my arm Greg calling out my name like that. I was trying to find a way out of this but I know I need to do this so count me in!

Let's make sure I read this right: Greg will be posting a nude picture of himself instead of one in the Speedo. So where's the attachment? Greg, will that be from behind or the Full Monty? Vegas got smacked with this crazy winter storm. Yesterday we ran around in long-sleeve t-shirts, but by last night the wind kicked up and it got down to 42 degrees and pouring rain (for you mountain folk, 42 is ice cold to us desert rats.) I hope it drops to 30 and I wake up to snow! That would be a dream come true, and YES, I will walk to the park in it. Bring it on!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
