What are you doing for Lent?

Recommended Posts

Giving something up? Or doing something?

We received a 40 chapter book from church at Christmas, so I may try to read a chapter per day. I *need* to give up sweets or commit to a liquid reset. Oh, the possibilities!

What are you doing?

Eating fish, fish, and then some fish! I'm going to try to eat fish five days a week and meat the other two.

Of course, since I was 7yr, there will be no chocolate for 40llloooonnnggg days and 40 llllooonnngggg nights.

I also try to spare some time every day to reflect on "my world"---family, health, community.

Giving up chocolate and Peanut Butter. Limiting myself to two cups of Decaf coffee a day. That was my original intent.

I am now going to add to the list:

Limit - coffee - decaf, no more than 2 cups a day, Power Crunch Bars - no more than 2 a week.

NO - chocolate, Peanut Butter (I'm the most :( about this one!), crackers, Cookies, candy. It's mostly stuff I shouldn't be eating anyway, so I can/need to do it!

Adding a bible study every day about self esteem by Beth Moore.

What is the title of the bible study? I downloaded several of her books to my Kindle a while back.

I'm Protestant so I've always had a different relationship with lent than some. But I've still practiced it from time to time. Ive found it a helpful spiritual tool. However a lot of times I've given up health related things and so lent becomes conflated with a type of diet. These were never good for my health pre surgery ultimately speaking. So I'm going to abstain this year and maybe pick a different non food issue next year to focus on.

I did run into a bit of a pickle during communion. Up till Wed my sister always had a small cup of Water set aside for me, during the pre and post op diet. We both forgot and she was breaking the bread and I walked up and we both froze. I only took the size of my pinky nail, and drank the grape juice, it's a tiny bit.

Something I am going to have to think about each time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
