I don't know WHAT I was thinking. A friend of mine caught me in a weak moment, and I agreed to teach a class on The Five Love Languages the day before Valentines Day, for a local kink group.

I've taught this class several times in the past.

I can see how this one is going to go...

Q: Are you in a relationship now?

A: No, I just broke up with my man of 4 years because he was no longer speaking my love languages.

I read the book twice and found it very powerful. I can't imagine a class on it... but interesting.

So, my two llove languages - basically tied for first place... I took the test twice, two years apart and basically got the same result:

Words of affirmation

Physical touch

Damn, no wonder my two long term relationships with men of Nordic heritage who were raised to be quiet and physically reserved made me feel so "wanting". I just want a hug and someone to tell me they love me - apparently that is asking too much.

Love languages are real. My love language is verbal and physical. My boyfriend of ten years is a gift from God, and I show my appreciation for his kindness by writing little love notes and also just flat out telling him I love him. I get a kick of of hugging him around the waist (that's all I can reach - he is a foot taller than me). When he is sitting down at his computer, I sneak up behind him and kiss him on the back of his neck. If I get up at night to go to the bathroom, I will gently squeeze his big toe.

His love language is through demonstration. He has never said "I love you" but he "does" I love you all day every day. He comes straight home from work every day and gives me a kiss as soon as he gets in the door. He kisses me goodbye before he runs out for an errand. Every time (without fail) that he goes to the store, he brings me home a surprise. He planted tons of flowers around his vegetable garden and keeps the flower vase on my dresser refreshed all summer.

The other day he sent me an email of a picture that he Photoshopped It was a tree with a heart carving on it, and it said "Tony loves Shirley. I nearly cried. I put it on my laptop as my background picture. He has included me in his daily activities and respects and validates my opinions. He welcomes my family into our home and plays with my grandchildren like they were his own.

I used to wonder where I stood with him until I realized that we show our love in very different ways.

During the class I hand out a questionnaire to determine your love languages. Mine are the same as yours, by the way.

Then we go over each language, and I give examples of how to speak each one.

Then we talk about how we express love towards others, and how we receive it, which isn't necessarily or usually the same. I express love by Acts of Service, but I receive by Physical Touch and Words of Affirmation. This means I do things for people so they will tell me how awesome I am. I did this for years and years before I read the book and discovered that's what I was doing. For any get-together I would bake some serious Desserts, and I always got the praise I was looking for.

We talk about moving out of your comfort zone and how to do that if your partner's language is not one you're comfortable speaking.

The whole thing takes about two hours.

For the kinksters, we talk about power exchange relationships and how to incorporate the languages into the various types of PE relationships.

I definitely receive as I mentioned. ... I struggle with identifing how I express. I suspect it is acts of service. Let's think about this...I financially supporter 2 men in LTR and today I care for my grown sons...love to cook for them etc.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
