Hello everyone.

Let's just start off saying i'm very desperate and I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum. This is my first post on this lovely site. I had my gastric bypass surgery the 16th of november and I quit taking my birth control pills around the same time due to not feeling well after the surgery. I haven't had my period since, and I guess thats natural with my new low calorie intake.

I'm traveling to London on wednesday and it just occurred to me that I might get my period and my cramps get really bad. + I've lost almost 50lbs so I'm feeling myself right now and the thought of having my period and being bloated on vacation isn't that appealing.

I went to the doctor yesterday and she gave me "primolut-nor* " 5mg, and said that I should take 2-3/day. The thing is though, I'm afraid that my body won't absorb the pill and give me my period since after a bypass some pills don't get absorbed the same.

I've called several doctors and nurses today but no one has an answer for this and please if you have any experience or information about this let me know. This vacation means so much to me and I don't want to gamle with having it destroyed. (By gamle I mean, I don't take anything and don't get my period/or get my period. Or I take the pill and it dosen't work and I get my period or it works)

Thank you if you read my mess of a post and have an amazing weekend

* Primolut N tablets 5mg contain norethisterone a first generation synthetic progestogen that has similar action in the menstrual cycle as the natural hormone progesterone. Endogenous (naturally produced) progesterone is produced by the ovaries during the second phase of the menstrual cycle. It acts on the endometrium (lining of the uterus) converting the proliferating phase to the secretory phase. This causes the endometrium, which has thickened in response to oestrogen during the first half of the cycle, to stop growing and start secreting hormones and other Proteins needed to maintain a pregnancy, if conception occurs; if not, levels of oestrogen and progesterone fall and the endometrium is shed (menstruation). The action of norethisterone in Primolut N 5 helps re-establish a regular menstrual cycle in conditions where a lack of endogenous progesterone causes menstrual problems, such as in secondary amenorrhoea and abnormal uterine bleeding. Aka to postpone my period, and after you quit taking them you get your period after 2-5 days

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
