snacking to much

Recommended Posts

I am having a hard time with not snacking. I do really good till about 1:00am (I work till 6:ooam) I eat my last meal around 11:30pm but around 1:00 I feel like I really need to eat. I have been snacking on stuffed olives, and pickels mostly so my Snacks are not really that bad but I would still like to stop. I have not had my first fill yet so maybe that will be a big help.

Does anyone have any tips for quiting snacking? Someone said to switch to Nuts but I am worried about the amount of fat in nuts. Any way I feel like crap because I try so hard to eat well all day then I feel like I am blowing it in the early AM. Someone please tell me this will be much more EZ after my fill.

I used to work midnights as well (part of my huge weight gain was from it). Is 1am a time that works slows down and you have more free time? I figured out that I was snacking out of sheer boredom. Between 1am and 2am the night started really dragging on. Can you try taking a quick walk around the boat, the bldg, something? Maybe just to clear your head? Or can you take a 10 minute break and read a chapter in a book?

Working mids is really rough on the body. You've been doing really well though, keep up the good work!

I agree with jack

But snacking seems to be a need for those working overnight.. Trust me i would know.... Not only do i work overnights. But i work in this little parking booth of a hotel.. where pretty much the whole night its me and the cars or virtually empty lot... This is when snacking is most tempting...

I try to keep myself as busy as possible so i don't think about food... It also helps that im still in school so i do homework... But if i really cant avoid it, i choose healthy things like;

*Yogurt (light)

*Almonds (i find these fill you up faster and you eat less of them)

*Jello (sugar free)

*Breakstones Cottage Doubles ( lots of protien so it will actually keep you full longer)

*Baby Carrots (i find i can only have at most 5 and im done)

I hope that can help you a bit... Good luck... I see your doing great as it is!!!!!!

Midnight shift is when the body really screams for carbs. I have gone through this myself. I think what your body really wants is energy. Why not have some tuna and hard-boiled eggs available to snack on. Energy from Protein lasts longer than the quick fix from carbs which are really only complex sugars, I believe. There are tins of tuna which come with pop top lids - you don't need a can-opener. Eggs are rich in the Vitamin Bs. And the advice to have to fresh fruit and raw vegies around is good advice.

Well my tricks are just to allow myself to have the good for me Snacks around. Then if there is something I feel that I'm craving or whatever..I play mind games with myself. I have drilled it into my head to tell myself over and over..."Eating this is not going to get me to my goal"..it seems to work. I think half of learning to loose weight is all in your head. Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
