When swallowing tablets of medicine?

Recommended Posts

I've never crushed my pills. Just use a pill cutter(?) to make them smaller. Even in the hospital after RNY the nurse cut the pills, not crush.

I do notice if I don't cut them small enough or take enough Water, I feel a little burning after taking them.

@@Katherinedj - a lot of people use the Vitamin Patches on another forum I'm on. They say they're a decent substitute for the multi-Vitamins, but some people still have to take some of the extras like D, calcium citrate, and B12.< /p>

I've been taking tablets since the day after surgery. After they confirmed my pouch had no leaks the morning after, the hospital pharmacy sent up my usual blood pressure meds in their usual pill form which they had me swallow with Water. I do cut one of my pills at home though - in the hospital they gave me 2 smaller ones to make up my dose, but I only have larger ones. My Multivitamins are chewable, and they don't want me adding back any other supplements until after my 2 week checkup.

Everyone is different. LIke another poster, I swallowed pills on day two after surgery. On day three, I was swallowing all my pills without cutting or crushing including my ginormous Vitamin and probiotic capsules. I take several of the small ones all at the same time, and I make sure they're all the way down before I do the large capsules.

Just take things slowly and see how things go down one at a time. You might be surprised.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
