How long did it take your surgeons office to....

Recommended Posts

Can I get some feedback on how long it took your surgeons office to submit the documentation to the insurance?

My surgeons office had all of my paperwork and could submit on 12.21. I received an email on 12.30 (because I had called them) and was told my file would be sent to the person who does the submission. Fine.

On January 11th, I called the insurance company and they had never received anything. So I sent an email asking them to resubmit if they have because the insurance did not have any documentation. If they hadn't, I asked how long would it take because it had been three weeks.

I did get an email back and it said she had mine along with MANY others to submit. I feel like I may have made her mad.

Was it unrealistic for me to expect my paperwork should have been submitted at some point during those three weeks?

Mine was submitted the day after my last required appointment. My insurance approved it two days later.

I would be ticked off at that person, if I were you. She made it a point to make it sound like you were just one of many she

has to deal with, and that is just uncalled for.

My surgery couldn't be done until January, so that's the only reason mine wasn't submitted in December, even though it was ready. And even then, it was sent in the very first week and I was approved within days.

What you don't know is the rest of the story. Was she off for two weeks for the holidays? Was the office closed during the holidays? Was another key person in the office out sick and everyone doing double duty?

Put yourself in this person's shoes. Would you want someone getting angry despite you doing the best you could? Does your surgeon also do other kinds of surgery, some of which may have been urgent?

I'd probably call and ask to speak to the office manager and ask why it's taking three weeks for elective surgery requests. You may find out that the person who is doing the submitting is not doing her job as expected - but you may find otherwise.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
