Does this sound like a stall?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 12/28. HW 273, surgery day 268. Since coming home, had been dropping a pound here and there till 255. I've been at 255 for several days now, and I've been back to work the past two days, which is pretty active. I'm still on full liquids, which has been going good and getting in Protein. I know at least the last two days my intake calories were definitely less than my calories burned from work activities.

I thought it seemed pretty early to be a stall, tomorrow is two weeks since the procedure.

Stalls are usually when the numbers on the scale don't change for over a week or more. I wouldn't consider the scale not moving for a couple of days a stall, but then again I don't weigh every day.

None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. If you expect to see the scale move in a downward direction on a daily basis, I suggest you revisit your expectations.

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Most people experience their first stall about three weeks after surgery, but it does vary.

Just follow your program.

Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids.

Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed.

Exercise when cleared.

And stay off the scale!

Embrace the Stall!

You sound exactly like me! we were even sleeved the same day! haha

I have been guilty of weighing everyday (which is easy to do, I work at a doctors office) and I have had a few days where that happened and got frustrated. I've also commited to only weighing once a week, starting this week so we'll see how that goes!!

I feel your pain, it's so hard not to weigh, and expect some kind of drop everytime.

If you are following the program and finding the time to exercise... You might just need to go to the bathroom.

Same thing happened to me early on and I had realized I hadn't gone in 3 or more days. Being on a Protein heavy diet every day can really back you up.

Might be worth getting Fiber gummies and a regular dosage of Colace to your diet and you mint find your not so bad off. The weight loss defiantly starts to slow down... But a consistent 2-4lbs a week is significant when you put it into the perspective of months.

I agree with the other posts. Try not to weigh every day it does get discouraging if you do that. I am 2 months out and I had to remove my scales out of the bathroom because I would weigh every day. Now I try to weigh only once a week and that really helped me out a lot. I see other post where it seems like everyone is losing faster than myself but I just remember a slow loss is better than no loss at all. Keep up the good work!!!!

My Monday weigh-in was the same. Hopeful for the next week, I'm really going to try.

I'm also going to increase my Water intake, and I realized today I was having some difficulty going to the bathroom ( like someone else suggested b/c of the increased protein). So maybe some colace is in my future haha! Thanks for the suggestions and encouragement!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
