How fast, how slow?

Recommended Posts

How fast or slow did you lose weight over a year? Also How many times per week did u work out ? (ex. person A lost 50 lbs in 12 months exercising 3 times a week walking. Person B lost 80 lbs over 12 months exercising 4 times a week? ) just would like to know what works for different people and try to find a sweet spot for myself when I get the band. Just a few more months!

This is going to be a frustrating answer....but the truth is, your mileage may vary...

Both person x and person y can eat 1200 cals a day and exercise three times a week and x can lose 80 lbs in a year and y loses 40. It's weird. It depends on a lot.

What you have to do once you have the band is try stuff out. Try fiddling with fcalories try fiddling with types and frequency of exercises (and of course fills) until you find your sweet spot for losing.

I lost 54 lbs my first year and I only worked out an average of 1x per week. I now work out 2x a week and I'm losing about 2 lbs per week now.

I am getting banded in 2 days and I was wondering the same thing, but it DOES come down to the fact that everyone is different. I am a 19 year-old male and statistics say that I will lose more than a woman at 50 years old. But I could end up losing 1lb. per week(not likely but there is always that chance).I am planning on going to the gym 3x a week with bicycling thrown into the mix. My goal is to lost 115lbs. after a year. i wish you luck.

I'm 37, female, and honestly have a LOT of weight to lose (they say the more you have to lose, the quicker it comes off). I have lost 55 pounds in just over two months. I work out at least five times a week (run/walk 3 miles a day). I probably consume about 700 calories a day, but I'm trying to get that up a little because I suspect my body is in shock at the moment and hanging on to every calorie for dear life. I feel great! :whoo:Bottom line, I wouldn't have lost nearly as much as quickly if I didn't move and follow the band rules almost perfectly. It not easy! But, the band is only as good as you decide to make it for yourself. Good luck!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
