Tomorrow is the DAY-What to bring?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone! Happy New Year! I'm scheduled for the sleeve tomorrow at 9 AM. My doctor ordered me to have a light Breakfast this morning and Clear liquids for the remainder of the day. So, I just had my "last meal" of scrambled eggs and some fresh fruit.

The doctor's office and the hospital gave me tips on what to pack... Any suggestions?

Thanks, everyone!

Hospitals are pretty experiences in providing what patients need. Lip balm and a long charger cord for your phone are the things they may not have that most people here seem to agree you need. If you are a woman, if you have a bra that is non-underwire (preferably a soft cotton, fasten-in-front leisure bra) you might find that much more comfortable post-surgery, since many docs will leave you with an incision that hits right at the bra line. Good luck!

I was told to wear the clothes I was going to go home in.so think possible weather wise it being very cold. it is January after all. as loose as possible for clothing. cpap machine my hospital allowed me to shower on day 2 after my surgery. they should have antibacterial soap and such for you to use. but deodorant bring it with also tooth brush and tooth paste. that was all I brought with me.

I was very happy to have pj shorts. I know you can wear another hospital gown backwards to go walking, but I was much more comfortable actually having the shorts on. Pants would have been too hot, especially with the things they put on your legs for circulation. Other people recommend a small pillow to cushion your belly against the car seat on the ride home, but I didn't need it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
