Hi so new at this but my surgery is January 13 so excited so nervous so hungry.

I'm on the pre op diet just liquids and i still feel so hungry. Any advice ?

The hunger feeling could be a couple of things...

Make sure you are drinking your required Protein shakes on a set schedule. About the same schedule everyday.

It could be acid, try taking some Zantac or something like that.

Try drinking some Water too..I know more liquid. My pee has never been so clear lol.

I drink 5 powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury shakes a day (one can be made into chicken flavored soup)

I can have 6 servings a day of s/f pudding, unflavored applesauce, s/f Jello, oatmeal, light yogurt and 1/2 cup cooked veggies

I add the cooked veggies to my Soup so my mind thinks it's vegetable soup lol

I've been adding seasoning to all of it so its not so bland. :)

Finally, after a whole lot of waiting and insurance deliberating, and jumping through a ton of hoops, I'm scheduled for 1/15 -- NEXT FRIDAY!!

I'm so very ready, but almost equally as terrified. I told myself through this whole process that the people who had second thoughts and freaked out close to surgery were probably insane. But now here I am, having second thoughts and freaking out. I guess I would be crazy if I didn't panic; this is a HUGE lifestyle change. But I won't back out. I swear it.

I am being sleeved on the 18th. My preop diet is 2 shakes a day. A piece of fruit in between meals and a dinner with 6 oz of lean Protein, vegetables and 1 tbsp olive oil or 2 tbsp if sf Salad Dressing. When I get hungry I drink Water or coffee.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
